Feb 5, 2006 - Watts of Stars
Saturday was a busy day at our 37-letter named festival (SBIFF). For starters, eight more people graced the Ed Carpet. And, there were some very tasty baked goods available in the Press Room.
The big event of the day was the Naomi Watts Awards Ceremony. Our guest reporter, Darin Kranick, a big fan of Watts, was there to get the scoop on the event. He speaks very highly of the actress and the party that followed. Just a poke at Darin – what happened to your treatise on Watts as an existentialist? Maybe we can get a follow-up after the festival is over.
Another exciting thing yesterday was the Women in the Biz Forum where one woman’s glass ceiling turned out to be plastic.
Sue Foley, our most dedicated staffer, was there to report.
At the Reel Nature Panel, famed undersea photographer Mike deGruy, and an impressive panel of experts gathered to discuss the challenges and the future of nature films.
Guest reporter, Lisa Burns reports that, like the seasons, the nature of nature films is changing.
The dedicated staff of edhat.com missed the Who Is Harry Nilsson? star-studded event, but was able to attend the Thanks to Roy London star-studded event. Sharon Stone was there to introduce the film, and many other former students of London attended the film and participated in the Q & A afterwards.
We reported yesterday about London’s influence on the profession of acting. It seems that he made quite a few friends, as well.
In the category of “watt’s a good film?” the response to Joyeux Noel was about as good as it gets.
We heard the comment, “Best movie I have ever seen” by many people.
Two people who gave the film rave reviews were some friends from last year. We have never got their names, but we have taken their pictures many times. There was no Edhat contest yesterday, but they definitely win the contest for most dedicated filmgoers. They told us that on Friday, they saw five movies!
See the photos from Day 3.
