PLANET IBSEN TO MAKE WORLD PREMIERE

Introduction
Planet Ibsen is a feature-length film written, directed, and produced by Jonathan Wyche. The Planet Ibsen screenplay is the 2003 recipient of the prestigious Independent Film Project (IFP) Miami Sunlight Production Fund Award. As the recipient of the award, Mr. Wyche was awarded $25,000 in cash and $125,000 in goods and services towards the production of the film. The project received support from industry professionals in the Florida filmmaking community who generously donated over $500,000 in goods and services to the project. The remaining funds have been self-funded by Erica and Jonathon Wyche, whom, to date, retain sole ownership of the project.

Film Genre
Planet Ibsen is a fantasy drama set in the Victorian Era.

Synopsis
Planet Ibsen is about a tormented playwright who is forced to revisit his past while being trapped inside his archrival’s most famous play.

Planet Ibsen is an extreme adaptation of A Doll’s House play, written in 1879 by Henrik Ibsen. The story is told from the perspective of Ibsen’s real-life antagonist, August Strindberg, who never met Ibsen, but yet he publicly blamed him for the loss of his wife, family, and career. In Planet Ibsen, Strindberg believes he is trapped inside Ibsen’s A Doll’s House and his only means of escape is to rewrite Ibsen’s play, in the attempt to revise his life.

The Story
Planet Ibsen, explores the rivalry between Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen and his Swedish counterpart August Strindberg. The interesting twist in Wyche’s adaptation of A Doll’s House is that it is told from the perspective of Ibsen’s real-life antagonist, August Strindberg. In adapting A Doll’s House, Wyche transformed the classic play and brought it into a contemporary cinematic form. The fantasy film’s backdrop takes place in a lush Victorian setting, transporting the viewer into a unique and entertaining experience.
