Congratulations to T-Baby(93110) whose guess of $650,000 came closest to the actual price of the cheapest house for sale today in San Roque.  The cheapest house, at 3066 Foothill (between Calle Laureles and Alamar), is a small 2 bedroom, 1 bath rental-quality house with a fairly large backyard.  It is listed for $649,050.

The edhat staff was a little iffy as to whether we would  consider houses on Foothill and Apple Grove as being in San Roque. If a realtor showed us the Foothill property and claimed it San Roque, we would say “Pshaw!”  But the objective criteria in our fair contest was to go with the Multiple Listing Service definitions ... so instead we say “read ‘em and weep.”
